As one of the long suffering hoi polloi living near Tokyo who is condemned to experience sheer hell from using Narita Airport when going in and out of the country, I note with much indignation that our prime minister, Mori Yoshiro, took off from Haneda Airport for his trip to Africa.
I wonder why when there is so much insistence from those die-hard, fanatic supporters of Narita and transportation bureaucrats who insist on the clear division of international and domestic operations between Narita and Haneda that they do not pounce on Mori and entourage for not using Narita airport. Is it the case that if you happen to be prime minister you get to avoid hell and enjoy the luxury of using either airport for international flights?
I hope that for the next scheduled international trip, Mori, or whoever is prime minister will take the opportunity to fly out from Narita, understand the misery international travelers such as myself are forced to go through, and do something to correct our airport situation, which is simply a national embarrassment.
